What is a Divya Desam?
A Divya Desam is one of 108 Vishnu temples glorified by the Alvars, the Vaishnavite poet-saints of Tamil Nadu, in the Naalayira Divya Prabandham, a collection of four thousand verses composed between roughly the 6th and 9th centuries CE.

The two celestial Divya Desams
Thiruppaarkadal (the Ocean of Milk) and Thiruparamapadam (Vaikuntham) are not physical places on Earth. Tradition describes them as Vishnu's heavenly abodes, referenced in the Alvars' pasurams, and devotees venerate them through recitation rather than a physical visit.
